As soon as I saw this week's challenge at Colour Q, I knew what I wanted to make:-

A little owl bookmark made from punches!

Here are the colours/inspiration photo:-

I saw some cute owl bookmarks made from felt (here) & thought it would translate well into a paper version.

Here's a close-up:-

He sits inside my diary, & his flower folds over the top:-

Freshly Made Sketches #23 - Die Cut Blooms

This week, Tui & the Team at Freshly Made Sketches have an asymmetrical sketch that, frankly, I found VERY challenging!

Recently I got to spend the day with two lovely ladies, Bronwyn & Lynne, in Bron's craft room, in amongst her wonderful stash.  I die-cut some pretty leafy, flourishes & have used one on my card:-

Please excuse the poor night time photo, I need to redo it in daylight!

I've made a tall 4" x 8" card to accommodate the flourish panel, adding some interest to the white panels by using textured cardstock & embossing the small squares.

Well, here's the daylight photo from my second attempt today.  It's was overcast this morning & then pouring with rain, so this morning's shots were no better than last night's.  Luckily this afternoon, it is a bit clearer & I have been able to shoot inside at my usual spot near a window:-

At least it is better than this "action" one, which is what most of this morning's shots looked like, seeing as there was quite a bit of breeze outside, even under the front porch:-

I'm still not too sure about this card, but it's done now.  :)

Card Components:  SU except as noted
Cardstock:  Textured Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Pink Pirouette, Lucky Limeade
Stamp Set:  Occasional Quotes (retired)
Ink:  Regal Rose (2nd generation)

The Paper Players Challenge #83 - Masculine CAS

This week The Paper Players have a masculine-themed clean & simple challenge.  I think you can never have enough "man cards" in the stash, so I've joined in the fun.

I've gone for a simple layout, designed to showcase the snazzy DSP & the cool knot treatment.

My hubby was very impressed with the decorative knot, which is thanks to Barbara & her easy tutorial.

Hot Off the Press!! - Mini Flower Pot Pocket Card Tute

After flat camera batteries & a few computer battles, I have managed to put together a tute for a mini flower pot like my JAI entry (here).

I've used the current SU SAB ribbon & brad goodies with my tute sample:-

Just Add Ink #105 - Mini Flower Pot

Hi folks, thought I might try something new & give you a snippet of my project before you get to see the whole thing.  :)

This week the lovely ladies at JAI have a colour challenge & they have provided these pretty, pastel colours to whet your crafting appetite:-

Do you remember the flower pot cards that were all the rage a while ago?  Well, I decided to make a mini version, using these sweet colours & the petal cone die from SU.

Here's my little flower pot (with magnetic strips attached to the back of the pot, so the recipient can display it on their fridge/filing cabinet):-

The flowers are all attached to the card insert, & it looks like this once it's opened:-

ETA:  If you would like instructions on how to make the flowerpot, please go to this post.

Here is an upscaled version I made for the lovely Bronwyn Eastley, who is the "Queen of Easel Cards":-

Pike's Playground Challenge - Coloured Clown

There's a sketch challenge over at Pike's Playground & here's my entry:-

& here's the sketch:-

I have lots of Dustin's awesome images, & this one was already printed, crying out to be coloured.  I've used Prismacolor pencils with gamsol to blend, then he's been fussy cut & popped up on dimensionals.  His balloons & nose have been coated with Crystal Effects & his buttons & toe-caps have been clear glazed.

Funny thing is, the neon pink balloon was a dark magenta colour before it was "affected" by Crystal Effects???!!!

Card Components
Cardstock:  Elegant Eggplant, Daffodil Delight (both SU)
Papers:  Kaiser 6x6 pads
Stamps:  Digital Clown by Dustin Pike, SU Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Other:  Prismacolor Pencils, Gamsol, SU Scallop Border Punch, Crystal Effects, Clear Glaze Pen, SU Decorative Label Punch (trimmed straight), Dimensionals

JAI #103 - Marianne Designs Butterfly Die

This week's challenge from the team at JAI is to Just Add Red & White.  I've gone with a very simple design to showcase this stunning butterfly die:-

I've used the die two ways, both as a cut out & an embossed background on the base card.

Here's a shot of the components before I assembled the card:-

I embossed the butterfly on Xpress It cardstock (which is actually for Copic colouring, but it is a nice heavyweight paper).  I sprayed the paper with Isocol before I embossed, to give a nice deep impression & then sprayed the sheet with a white shimmer paint/alcohol mix to give the lovely sparkle.  Here's a tip for you - I taped the embossed sheet to the back of my cutting mat while it was drying to stretch it out & prevent it from warping too much.

Here's the card before I attached the die-cut butterfly:-

& the completed card from above, so you can see both butterflies:-

A big thank you to the lovely Bronwyn Eastley for sharing her love of butterflies & "enabling" me with this purchase, lol!

Card Components
Cardstock:  SU Real Red, Xpress It
Stamps:  SU Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Ink:  SU Real Red
Other:  SU White Shimmer Paint, Isocol, Marianne Designs Butterfly Die, Kaiser Grosgrain Ribbon
