The Lollipop Ladies #48 - A Cupcake Recipe!

Here's my entry for the latest challenge at the Lollipop Ladies:-

& here's the inspiration picture:-

As well as all those yummy cupcakes to get your creatives juices going, there is the added embellishment challenge to incorporate:-

  • 1 of 1 item;
  • 2 of another, &
  • 3 of a third item.

I have chosen to "bake" a chocolate cupcake, complete with spotty patty pan & matching envelope.  I have added:-

  • 1 button;
  • 2 tags, &
  • 3 types of baker's twine.

I've made my cupcake from the super versatile petal cone die, & embossed my patty pan with the stripes embossing folder.  The envelope has been custom made, using the scoring tool.

Here's the front of the envelope.   :)

The Paper Players - Celebrating 100 Challenges

This week Lesley & the Team at The Paper Players are hosting their 100th Challenge!  Woohoo!

As a fun way of celebrating this milestone, the DT have a fabulous bloghop for you to enjoy & they are also inviting us to use one of their previous challenges to create a project this week:-

Here is my card:-

& the two challenges I used to create it:-

I chose the colours from Challenge #10, because they are rich & gorgeous together, & the Tic Tac Toe Challenge #93, firstly because this type of challenge is so much fun & secondly, because I was honoured to be awarded the Headliner for this particular challenge.  :)

As you can see, I have gone with the top row of the tic tac toe grid.  All the layers have had their edges sponged.  The espresso layer is stamped all over with the large bloom from the Reason to Smile set.  The cherry layer has been dry embossed with the Petals A Plenty E/F.   The crumbcake layer has been embossed using the scoring tool.  The banner has been stamped from the Apothecary Art set, cut out & popped up on dimensionals.

I used my trusty SAMJ to stamp the stem section of the flower in espresso ink first, then I stamped the petal section with Versamark, so I could emboss it with Cherry Cobbler embossing powder.  The petals were then watercoloured with ink & an aquapainter, & the stem was coloured with ink & a blender pen.

Here's a close up:-

Some pearls & a sweet little butterfly were the finishing touches.

If you would like to join the Paper Players this week, you can find the Challenge here.

The Lollipop Ladies #47 - Jelly Babies!

I was inspired by Bron to go check out the challenge at the Lollipop Ladies. Their current challenge has this inspiration photo, & you can add the extra challenge of using ribbon:-

How cute are those little babies all lined up in a row?  :)  I've used the colours - green, yellow, orange, red & purple to create my cards.  I've also thrown in some blue, because the last bag of jellies that we had had blue babies as well!  Here are my cards, made for two adorable babies, who are about to turn two:-

I've used the two yummiest colours (purple & red jelly babies) for the embossed sections of the cards.  I created the cards & panels on my die-cut machine.  The cheeky little jungle animals are digis by Dusin Pike & have been printed on X-Press It paper, coloured with Copic markers (that I borrowed from DD) & then fussy cut & popped up on dimensionals.  I've added some sparkle to the giraffe's hat & blower, & the cupcake frosting & candle flame with a Spica pen.  I've used white glaze pen on the candle, which has given it a great "waxy" look.

Here's each card individually:-

There's still a couple of days left to play along in this fun challenge here (you simply add your link on the sidebar).

Card Components:
Cardstock:  SU Rich Razzleberry, Garden Green, Real Red, Pacific Point, Whisper White (inside) & X-Press It Copic Paper
Stamps:  Digital Stamps from various sets by Dustin Pike
Other:  Copic Markers, Spica Glitter Pen, White Glaze Pen, "Entangle" Embossing Folder, Dimensionals

The Paper Players Challenge #99 - Happy Birthday DD!

Well, today is our DD's birthday & seeing as she is fond of Miss Anya images, I have made her a centre step card, featuring one of the stamps from the "Hats" set:-

DD loves both pink & green, so I've used Lesley's bright & fresh colours from the Paper Players Challenge (click on the graphic to go to the challenge):-

It's been quite some time since I have broken out the aquapainter, so I have had a lovely time watercolouring this little Miss with my inkpads.  Here's a close-up:-

I've crystal glazed her boots & added tiny liquid pearl buttons.  Her hair has a fantastic healthy sparkle, thanks to a clear Spica pen.  :D

You can join in the Challenge & check out the stunning DT inspiration pieces here.  Please make sure you visit The Paper Players next week too, as it's their 100th Challenge!

Dynamic Duos #5 & RetroSketches #14 - Singin' in the Rain!

You could be mistaken for thinking I'm on an umbrella "kick" at the moment. Here's my second style of umbrella in a few days (you can see the first one here):-

I've made this encouragement card for this week's challenges at the Dynamic Duos & RetroSketches (click on the graphics below to take you directly to the respective challenges):-

This card was quite a challenge that I set for myself, as I struggle with single layer cards.  I am way more comfortable if I can add a layer or a mat somewhere, lol.  I was inspired by the DT at Retrosketches (Arielle, Jackie, Kasia & Laurie) to keep my card very CAS & was thrilled how it turned out.  The colours set by the Dynamic Duos Team were the perfect starting point for the bright umbrella.

I scored some random lines to create the border strip, adding a rhinestone to the end of each to form a droplet.  Here's a close up (sorry, it doesn't really show up that well, but you can click on the images to make them larger for easier viewing):-

& here is my little brollie, the top of which was quickly & easily made from punches:-

The sentiment was computer generated.   :)

ETA:  A big thank you to the Teams at both Challenges for these:-

The Paper Players #97 & Just Add Ink #120 - A Sketch & an Inspiration Image

I didn't want to miss out on the great sketch by LeAnne at the Paper Players this week, so I have squeezed in a card, combining the sketch with the inspiration challenge from Just Add Ink.  Here is the resulting card:-

& here are the challenge inspirations (click on each graphic to go directly to the respective challenges):-

I've taken the white panelling & the colours from the box shelving to create my card (which was also inspired by Nikki's awesome gumboot card!)

The umbrella was made from a circle die-cut, which had the edge cut with the frilly scallop from the edgelit dies.  I made the handle using a standard hole punch for the inner curve, the oval punch for the outer curve & I just trimmed the sides so they were straight, rounding the ends.  This has been added to a metallic silver rod.  I added the frame/rib lines to the umbrella using my scoring stylus, a mouse mat & the edge of both a round & oval metal die.  It has also been sponged & shaded with a blender pen & ink.  The flowers were made from the boho blossom punch & the itty bitty flower punch.

I had lots of fun making this one & was rapt with how it turned out.

ETA:  A big thank you to LeAnne for picking my card as one of her "Cut Above" choices this week:-
