CASE-ing the Catty #35 - Thanks

Welcome to this week's CASE-ing the Catty Blog Hop.  We are featuring projects inspired by the Thanks section of the Stampin' Up! annual catalogue (pages 13-18).  You may have come straight from Jessica's blog, or started here, but you can work your way around the entire Hop & see the Crew's wonderful projects by following the links in each post.  If you get lost along the way, you can find a complete list of participants on the CTC post.

I took my inspiration from the cute, dotty card on page 17, to make a simple Christmas card:-

I substituted stars for dots & added a touch of bling with some gold embossing.  The solid stars & sentiment come from the Festival of Trees set & the scribbly stars come from the Something to Say set.  The colours are Watermelon Wonder (the ink tends to look more red than the Watermelon cardstock does) & Cucumber Crush (a perfect green for Christmas projects!)

Next stop on the Hop is Elizabeth (simply click on the graphic):-

CASE-ing the Catty #33 - Anything Goes!

The new annual catalogue from Stampin' Up! is overflowing with inspiration for all your cards, packaging, scrapbooking & off the page projects.  This week each member of the CASE-ing the Catty Crew are choosing a project that really caught their eye & CASE-ing it!  You have possibly arrived here via Julia's blog & seen her inspiring project, but if not, you can work your way around the entire Hop by following the "next blog" link at the bottom of this post.  :)

I loved the emboss resist background of the card on page 125 & made this:-

These backgrounds are so much fun to create & no two ever turn out the same.  I have used Pink Pirouette, Calypso Coral, Chocolate Chip & Very Vanilla as my palette, with a mix of stamps from Butterfly Basics, An Open Heart & Gorgeous Grunge for the imagery.  I absolutely adore the Awesomely Artistic stamp set that was used in the catalogue sample & can't wait for that to arrive in my craft room.  :)

I actually have two layers of emboss resist here.  One layer was created by stamping the foliage, butterflies & postmark with versamark ink, then heat setting with clear embossing powder.  The second, very subtle, layer was done by stamping the honeycomb image with versamark ink & then heat setting (without embossing powder).  You can (almost) see the honeycomb layer here:-

I added skewed layers as per the sample, with the vanilla panel & "friend" sentiment panel getting some distressed edges.  I layered up three "hello" die-cuts to get the look of chipboard letters. added some gold twine (sans the gold thread) & popped the banner up on dimensionals:-

... & if you were wondering, the new banner triple punch is BRILLIANT!  :)

Next stop is the CTC blog (just click on the icon below), where you can find a complete list of participants.  If something has really caught your eye in the new catalogue & you would like to join the hop, please add a link to your project in the CTC post comments & we will add you to the list!
