CASE-ing the Catty #41 - Christmas Tunnel Card

It's time for another CASE-ing the Catty Blog Hop & the CTC Crew have some beautiful projects to share from the Christmas section of the Annual Catalogue (pages 67-72).

You may have come direct to my post or via Liz's awesome project.  You will find a link at the end of my post to move to the next blog on the Hop.  If you get lost on the way, there is a complete list of participants on the CTC blog.  If you are feeling inspired, you may even like to join us by leaving a link to your project in the comments of the CTC post & we will add you to the blog role.  :)

I have taken inspiration from the card on the top right of page 67 (see above):-

I liked the gold stars, the circular sentiment tucked in amongst the trees, the way the olive panel "grounds" these elements & the subtle stamping on the bottom edge of that panel.  As you can see, I even used the same  DSP!  :)  I switched the design from a landscape to portrait orientation so I could turn it into a tunnel card:-

CASE-ing the Catty #39 - Brick Wall Embossing Folder

Welcome!  This week's CASE-ing the Catty inspiration comes from the Project Life section of the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue (pages 49-54) & the Crew have some fantastic projects to get you feeling creative!

You may have come direct to my post or via Julia's awesome projects. :)

I used the very basic layout of the grey & white striped Project Life card at the bottom of page 52 as the starting point to create this card:-

I was aiming for a retro industrial kind of look.  :)  I created the brick wall by embossing a piece of Whisper White cardstock with the Brick Wall embossing folder from SU.  I masked the section of the wall that I wanted to appear "painted" & used a brayer & Crumb Cake ink to get the base colour of the unmasked bricks, then added Soft Suede with a rubber stamp offcut.  (I used the technique shared by Cecile here, but I stamped off my ink several times before I added it to the card to achieve a soft colour variation.)   Once I was happy with the colour of the bricks, I masked off the coloured bricks & an area in between to create the two lines.  I sponged them first with Soft Sky ink & then applied the Soft Sky ink pad directly to the cardstock.

I punched a star from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack & sponged Marina Mist through the stencil. The finishing touch was one of the cute wooden sentiments from the Expressions Natural Elements pack:-

My inspiration for the colours used on this card came from Bronwyn's new concept "Under The Colour Tree" (at Addinkitive Designs).  Bron has been providing weekly colour suggestions & is holding a linky party where you can add projects using the colours provided.  I used TCT#4 (you can find all the details here):-

CASE-ing the Catty #37 - Sprinkles of Life Shaker

Hello, this week the CASE-ing the Catty Crew are taking inspiration from the Baby section of the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue (pages 31-38).   You may have come directly from the CTC blog where there is a complete list of participants.  You can also "hop" your way around all the blogs by simply following the links at the end of each post.

There are so many great projects in this section to use as a starting point, it was hard to pick a favourite!  I chose to CASE the layout of the yellow & pink onesie card on page 37:-

I loved the opening in the card, with the cute little onesie sitting both in & out of the circle.  I decided to "step up" the circle & turn it into a shaker, utilising the silver hearts, window sheet & foam circle from the Hello Life Project kit that I used here.  This particular print from the Cherry On Top DSP stack made brilliant work of focusing on the silver embossed sentiment within the shaker.  A tiny heart print from the same stack was used for the base line element & I also added a small banner under the twine bow to balance the design.  I punched extra hearts for the shaker using the heart from the owl punch.

Enjoy hopping your way around the blogs & if you are inspired to join us, please leave a link to your project in the comment section of the CTC blog & we will add you to the list.  :)

Next stop is Bronwyn with her sweet card featuring clever washi tape patterned paper (simply click on the graphic):-
